Carmen Perkins, Founder and Principal, brings to Columbia Partners over 25 years of experience in investment banking, real estate finance, investment management, financial modeling and transaction management.  Prior to Founding Columbia Partners, Ms. Perkins served as Executive Vice President of Durham Capital, a New York boutique investment bank, specializing in senior and subordinated debt financing in the real estate and energy sectors.  Previously, Ms. Perkins was in Goldman Sachs's Investment Banking Division. During her tenure at Goldman Sachs, Ms. Perkins worked in the New York Mergers & Acquisitions group and provided advisory services for public and private companies in the real estate, natural resources, retail/apparel and general industrial sectors, focusing on cross-border M&A transactions. As an Associate, Ms. Perkins was an early member of the Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, where she focused on retail/apparel investments in New York City’s industrial neighborhoods. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Ms. Perkins was a Transfer Pricing Economist in the International Tax practice of Price Waterhouse (now PWC) in New York and Washington, DC.  Ms. Perkins has originated over $4 billion of financing transactions over her career.  She is also the Executive Vice President of CIVITAS Commercial Real Estate Services, a full service brokerage firm representing non-profits, educational institutions, and governmental agencies in Washington, DC and other urban markets.  

Ms. Perkins earned an MBA in Finance from Columbia University and a BA in Economics from University of Virginia.  A longstanding supporter of education and arts-oriented community impact organizations, Ms. Perkins sits on the Finance Committee of the National Cathedral School’s Governing Board and is a Board Member of the Maryland Youth Ballet. She was a former Board of Trustees Finance Committee member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School and was former Washington, DC Board Chair of Academic Achievement.
